Bangladesh to grant priority airport services and travel discounts to Probashee Card holders

The Bangladeshi government has announced a new initiative to provide significant travel and hospitality benefits to expatriate workers holding “Probashi Cards.” The program, aimed at recognizing the contributions of citizens working abroad, includes discounted airfares on Biman Bangladesh Airlines, exclusive access to the Balaka Lounge, and priority check-in and boarding services at airports.
The decision was formalized during a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Tuesday. Presided over by Minister Afroza Khan, the session included Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury, alongside other state ministers and senior officials. Discussions focused on the logistical integration of airport services to streamline the travel experience for remittance earners.
Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury emphasized that while expatriates are frequently lauded as “remittance warriors,” there remains a gap between verbal recognition and tangible support. He noted that the implementation of the Probashi Card is designed to provide formal acknowledgement, enhanced dignity, and better protection for citizens employed abroad. He urged for seamless cooperation between ministries to ensure the program’s success.
Elaborating on the administrative commitment, Minister Afroza Khan stated that the government is dedicated to ensuring hassle-free and high-quality aviation services. In addition to the airline benefits, she highlighted that the ministry has already introduced shuttle bus services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to further improve passenger comfort and connectivity.
Beyond aviation services, the government is also exploring the extension of hospitality perks. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat confirmed that the ministry is actively considering providing special discounts for cardholders at hotels and motels managed by the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. These efforts collectively aim to offer a more integrated and appreciative service experience for expatriates traveling back to their home country.
