Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over a high-level meeting at the Cabinet Division on Monday to finalize the strategic rollout of the government’s nationwide “Family Card” distribution program. The initiative, a centerpiece of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s election manifesto, aims to provide targeted social welfare benefits to citizens across the country.

During the session, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a phased implementation strategy, calling for the integration of modern technology to ensure the program’s efficiency. He directed officials to establish a comprehensive and centralized database to guarantee that aid reaches the intended beneficiaries with precision and transparency.

To ensure the integrity of the project, the Prime Minister mandated rigorous standards for data collection, beneficiary verification, and administrative accountability. He stressed that inter-ministerial coordination remains essential to overcoming logistical hurdles and ensuring that the distribution process remains insulated from bureaucratic delays or irregularities.

The meeting was attended by key government figures and policy advisors, including Social Welfare Minister A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain and State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin. Also present were Prime Minister’s Advisor Mahdee Amin, Principal Secretary A.B.M. Abdu-s-Sattar, SDG Affairs Coordinator Professor S.M. Abdul Awal, and BNP National Executive Committee Special Secretary Belayet Hossain Mridha, alongside other senior officials from relevant ministries and departments.
