Bangladesh Ministry of Primary Education Scraps Directive to Stock Political Books in Primary Schools

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has officially rescinded its directive to stock three specific books in all government primary schools across Bangladesh. The books, titled “President Zia: Political Biography,” “Begum Khaleda Zia: Life and Struggle,” and “Bangladesh First,” were previously ordered to be included in library collections nationwide.
Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, Shahina Ferdousi, confirmed the reversal on Monday evening, stating that the ministry had issued a formal notice to cancel the earlier instruction.
Last month, the ministry had sent a formal letter to the Directorate of Primary Education requesting that one set of these three books be preserved in the libraries of every government primary school. The subsequent withdrawal of this order effectively halts the implementation of that policy.
