Bangladesh appoints new Dhaka divisional commissioner and district administrators

The Bangladesh Ministry of Public Administration has announced a significant administrative reshuffle, appointing Md. Moniruzzaman Mia as the new Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka. Mia, who previously served as an additional secretary at the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, succeeds Sharof Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury. The position became vacant following Chowdhury’s recent promotion to the rank of secretary, where he was assigned to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
The government also introduced changes to district leadership, appointing new Deputy Commissioners (DC) in Comilla and Sylhet. Rozy Akter, a deputy secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, has been named the new DC for Comilla.
Meanwhile, Mu. Reza Hasan, who formerly served as the DC of Comilla, has been transferred to lead the Sylhet district administration. The Sylhet post had remained vacant since June 21, when the former DC, Md. Sarwar Alam, was withdrawn and reassigned to the Ministry of Public Administration as a deputy secretary. These appointments were formalized through separate notifications issued by the ministry on Sunday.
