A young man was called from his house and killed in Ghazaria of Munshiganj. His relatives rescued him from Dari Baushia village of the upazila on Monday morning. He later died on the way to the hospital.

According to the family, yesterday Sunday around 12 o’clock in the night, the people of Nayan-Pias Force, a naval robber registered with the police, called him from home. Later he was tortured and beaten and left behind.

The deceased Md. Rakibe (22) lives in Shimulia village of Bari Upazila. He lived with his family in a rented house in Dari Baushia village of Baushia Union for about one and a half years.

Rakib’s mother Rumi Begum told reporters that last night Rakib was sleeping at home. At around 12 o’clock in the night, three young men came to their house with a car. They want to take Rakib to Piyas. He objected. The youths said that they will deliver Rakib home after meeting with Piyas. If you don’t believe it, ask them to take their picture on the phone. Rakib didn’t return home all night. His family got suspicious as his phone was switched off. Early this morning they got news that a young man has been left on the bank of the river in Balurchar area. Rakib was lying there in a stupor. When he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.

Ghazaria Upazila Health Complex’s emergency department doctor. Solaiman said that Rakib was brought to the hospital in a dead state around 5:30 in the morning. There are no visible injuries or major injuries on his body. However, a light black mark was seen on the back of the body. The actual cause of death can be ascertained after the post-mortem.

Rakib’s aunt Rozina Begum said, “Rakib was called from home and beaten and strangled and left on the river bank in a comatose state.” We want justice for this.
