A six-day long painting exhibition ‘Sab Narai Tei Ma’ has started in Dhanmondi.

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, a six-day long joint painting exhibition ‘Sab Nari Tei Ma’ has started at Safiuddin Shilpalaya in Dhanmondi of the capital. Painter and sculptor Ivy Zaman and musician Mehreen inaugurated this exhibition last Sunday afternoon.

This is their tenth exhibition organized by women’s organization ‘Jalkanya’. A total of 35 artworks by 12 women artists have been placed in this event. Along with watercolors, the exhibition is decorated with acrylic and coffee paintings.

The organizers said that this event is to encourage the work of those who paint outside the formal art education. The organization has been named ‘Jalkanya’ mainly because women paint pictures with the help of water.

In the opening ceremony, singer Mehreen remembered her mother, ‘I am a mother myself, and I also have a mother. Mother’s memory is life’s most valuable asset. The key to heaven actually lies in the hands of the mother.

Painter Ivy Zaman said, ‘Not just a special day, every day is actually Mother’s Day. The way the artists participated in this exhibition by painting pictures is really admirable.

“Motherhood is not just about giving birth, it is the name of a feeling,” says Suparna Alice Gomez, the master of Jalkanya. Artist Ashok Karmakar has collaborated in the curation of the exhibition. The title sponsor of the exhibition is The City Bank Plc.

The artists participating in the exhibition are Suparna Elise Gomez, Sabia Nasreen, Elina Chakma, Mahfuza Khanum, Jacqueline Ria Rosario, Shama Sayom, Anastasia Papia Gomez, Dipanbita Mahalder, Israt Binte Rauf, Salsabil Sultana, Zeenatul Kubra Nipa and Silvia Teresa Costa.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 11 am to 8 pm daily till May 15.
