39 extortionists arrested in DMP raid

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched a raid on the list of people involved in extortion and terrorist activities in the capital. 39 listed extortionists were arrested in various areas of Dhaka on Sunday.
DMP spokesperson Deputy Commissioner NM Nasiruddin told Prothom Alo that 54 people have been arrested from the list of extortionists and terrorists. Among them there are 7 listed extortionists and 32 others are outside the list. Apart from this, 15 terrorists have been arrested.

DMP Commissioner. Sarwar told reporters on Sunday that operations have been launched against extortionists, armed terrorists, drug dealers and people involved in online gambling circles across the capital. He said that 58 listed extortionists and 94 of their accomplices have been arrested in the last 48 hours.
DMP Commissioner. Sarwar said, this operation started on May 1. As part of improving the law and order situation across the country, the DMP has launched operations against extortionists, armed terrorists, drug peddlers and online gambling gangs. The operation has been intensified to root out criminals and provide relief to the city dwellers and make the metropolis safer.
