2 BNP leaders with father injured in son’s shooting in Bhaluka

2 people, including a father, were injured in the firing of a son due to an election dispute in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka. The incident took place on Sunday (April 12) at noon in Zamirdia area of ​​the upazila. 

The injured are – Baba Khoka Mia (60) and Khokon Mia (38). Khoka Mia Habirbari Union 4th Ward BNP President. He is the son of deceased Alam Mia of that area. Khokon is the son of Faiz Uddin from the same area.

According to local sources, Khoka Mia campaigned for rice grains in the last parliamentary elections. His son Tofail Ahmed Rana (35) works for BNP’s rebel candidate Murshed Alam (deer symbol). 

During the elections, on January 25, there was a clash between activists and supporters of rice grains and deer. At that time, a video of vandalism and attack led by Rana on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Seedstore Bazar went viral on social media. Four cases were filed between the two sides in that incident, in two of which Rana was an accused.

At noon on the day of the incident, Rana was hanging out in his private office in Zamirdia area. At that time Khoka Mia went there and disciplined her son. Enraged by this, Rana fired three rounds at Khokon Mia along with his father with the pistol he had with him. Khoka Mia was shot in the back and head. 

Khokon Miao was attacked while trying to save him. At that time Rana’s followers Nizam, Nahid, Al-Amin, Rifat and 10 to 12 others cut and wounded them with daggers and chopsticks. Later the locals rescued them and took them to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex.

After the incident, Rana turned off his mobile phone and went into hiding, so his statement could not be obtained.

Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex’s emergency department doctor Dr. Minara Akhter said that two people were brought to the hospital with injuries and one of them said that he was shot. They were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with first aid.

Bhaluka Model Police Station OC Jahidul Islam said that the conflict between father and son has been going on for a long time. Today’s incident happened because of previous incident. A bullet shell was recovered from the spot. No written complaint has been received yet. Everyone is busy with treatment.
