MUMBAI – Bollywood model and actress Poonam Pandey has revealed that her father slapped her after she controversially vowed to strip naked if India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup, an incident that plunged her conservative family into turmoil. Pandey, known for a career punctuated by provocative statements and stunts, shared details of the domestic strife in a recent interview with Times Now.

Pandey’s promise to pose nude if India clinched the trophy ignited a media frenzy and widespread public debate. She admitted to being desperate for attention at the time, making the decision casually during a conversation with friends.

The actress recounted that her family was unaware of her contentious declaration until it made headlines the following day. Her father, furious upon reading the news, physically assaulted her, leading to prolonged discord within their household due to her perceived “unconventional” behavior for a child from a conservative background.

More recently, Pandey again drew public ire in early 2024 after faking her own death, a stunt she later claimed was an attempt to raise awareness about cervical cancer.
