In his 2023 autobiography, the New Zealand-born actor revealed he had been diagnosed with stage-three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. At the time, Neill expressed that he had confronted the prospect of death, but he later achieved remission following a specialized gene-based immunotherapy treatment.
