CID Arrests Actor Don in Connection with Salman Shah Murder Case

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials arrested actor Don, a primary suspect in the death of acclaimed film star Salman Shah, at Dhaka airport on Tuesday as he attempted to depart for Saudi Arabia. Following his apprehension, a local court ordered him to be remanded to judicial custody.
The arrest marks a significant development in the high-profile legal battle surrounding the mysterious death of Salman Shah, who died on September 6, 1996. After years of litigation, a formal murder case was registered in October 2021 based on a complaint filed by the actor’s mother, Neela Chowdhury.
Don, identified as the fourth accused in the case, is among 11 individuals charged in connection with the actor’s death. State prosecutors allege that Don maintained an illicit relationship with Salman Shah’s wife, Samira Haque, and claim that a contract worth 1.2 million BDT was arranged to facilitate the actor’s murder.
The legal proceedings have remained a point of public interest for over two decades. The CID continues to pursue the remaining suspects as the investigation into the 1996 incident moves toward trial.
