Akshay Recounts Near-Death Experience

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, renowned for his daredevil action sequences, has disclosed surviving three near-death incidents while performing his signature stunts on film sets. The revelation comes as the actor promotes his latest film, ‘Bhoot Bangla’, which has received mixed reactions from netizens since its theatrical release.

Kumar, who built his career on a foundation of high-octane action films, is known for his insistence on performing most of his own stunts, often eschewing body doubles. This commitment to authenticity has frequently placed him in perilous situations, as he detailed in a recent interview.

One such incident occurred during the filming of his 1993 movie, ‘Sainik’. Kumar described a scene where he was required to traverse from one building to another while suspended by a wire. Mid-stunt, his grip weakened, and he narrowly avoided a dangerous fall from a considerable height.

A second near-fatal experience occurred during the filming of ‘International Khiladi’. Kumar recalled being suspended from a boat when a catamaran unexpectedly approached, nearly severing a part of his body – an incident he also broadly described as having a section of his body almost cut near his chest.

The third harrowing event took place during a stunt for ‘Khiladi 786’, where Kumar was tasked with descending from a helicopter to a hot air balloon. This complex sequence also saw him narrowly escape a life-threatening situation.

Despite these alarming encounters, Kumar continues to perform many of his own stunts, even famously setting himself ablaze during an awards show. While such feats once concerned his wife, Twinkle Khanna, she has reportedly grown accustomed to his daredevil reputation. ‘Bhoot Bangla’ also features actors Bhumika Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, and Paresh Rawal.
