Shah Cement and the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) have officially launched the construction of the Shah Cement Arena, marking a new milestone in their long-standing professional partnership. The groundbreaking ceremony for the facility took place on Tuesday at the IAB premises in Agargaon.
The expansion project, supported by Shah Cement, is designed to enhance the existing infrastructure of the institute. The development plan includes the construction of an 11,000-square-foot basement and a three-story building dedicated to conference and exhibition facilities. The multi-purpose basement level has been officially designated as the Shah Cement Arena.
The event, themed Inspire and Impact, was attended by key figures including IAB President Professor Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, General Secretary Masood Ur Rashid, and Abul Khair Group Brand Director Naushad Chowdhury. Other notable attendees included Shah Cement General Manager of Finance Kazi Asif Iqbal, Assistant General Manager of Brand Marketing Ibrahim Khalil, and members of the IAB Executive Council.
Officials stated that the new facility will serve as a dedicated platform for architects and industry professionals to conduct conferences, exhibitions, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Beyond the physical structure, the collaboration aims to foster professional dialogue and creative exchange within the architectural community.
The launch of the project underscores a broader vision held by Shah Cement, which emphasizes that construction extends beyond the creation of physical space to the development of environments where ideas and potential can intersect to create meaningful societal impact. The ceremony concluded as a celebration of the enduring cooperation between the corporate entity and the institute, signaling a commitment to the future of the nation’s architectural landscape.
