Three killed and five injured in road accident in Katiadi of Kishoreganj

Three people, including a father and his young daughter, were killed and five others were injured in a collision involving a three-wheeled auto-rickshaw and a pickup truck in Katiadi Upazila of Kishoreganj on Sunday.
The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Milon Miah, his five-year-old daughter Zara Moni from Tarail Upazila, and 40-year-old Rabeya Begum from Ajmiriganj, Habiganj. Among the five injured, two have been identified as Piya and Robiul Alam, while the identities of the remaining three remain unknown. All victims were passengers in the auto-rickshaw.
According to witnesses and police, the auto-rickshaw, which was carrying seven people including the driver, was traveling from Kishoreganj toward Katiadi. At approximately 2:00 p.m. in the Tebagha area of Achmita Union, the driver attempted to overtake a covered van. During the maneuver, the vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck.
The impact caused the auto-rickshaw to veer off the road and overturn, leaving the vehicle mangled. Milon Miah and Zara Moni died at the scene. Rabeya Begum succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the Katiadi Upazila Health Complex.
The injured were initially transported to the Katiadi Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to the Kishoreganj 250-Bed General Hospital for advanced treatment. Dr. Anisur Rahman, an assistant surgeon at the health complex, reported that the survivors sustained significant head injuries.
Sub-Inspector Nabi Nur of the Katiadi Highway Police confirmed the fatalities and stated that authorities have seized the pickup truck involved in the crash. The driver of the truck fled the scene and remains at large. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
