Armed Robbers Posing as Police Loot Cash and Gold from Coxs Bazar Household

Armed individuals posing as law enforcement officers robbed a residence in the Paglar Bil area of Dulahazara Union in Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria Upazila early Saturday morning. The suspects allegedly made off with 107,000 taka in cash and 1.5 bhori of gold jewelry.
The homeowner, Nurul Amin, who operates a feed business in Chittagong, reported that the incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday night. According to Amin, five to six masked individuals arrived at his residence, gained access after identifying themselves as police, and claimed they were conducting a search for illegal weapons and contraband.
Under the guise of the search, the intruders instructed the family to surrender their valuables for safekeeping. Trusting the perpetrators, Amin opened his wardrobe and handed over his cash and jewelry. The suspects then held Amin and his family members captive in a room at gunpoint.
From inside the locked room, Amin observed that the main gate of his residence had been damaged and noted the presence of two or three additional armed individuals waiting outside. After securing the valuables, the group fled the premises in a white microbus.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene on Saturday afternoon to investigate. Arifur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge of Chakaria Police Station, confirmed that police are currently collecting evidence and questioning family members. He stated that the department is actively pursuing the case and that formal legal proceedings will follow.
