Armed Assailants Rob Schoolteacher at Knifepoint in Pirganj

Two unidentified assailants robbed a primary school teacher in Pirganj, Rangpur, on Monday afternoon, threatening a four-year-old child with a knife to seize a gold necklace.
The incident occurred near the Fire Service station in the Mokimpur area at approximately 3:45 p.m. Shamima Akter, an assistant teacher at Mokimpur Government Primary School Number 2, was returning home by auto-rickshaw alongside three colleagues when the suspects, riding a motorcycle, intercepted the vehicle.
According to the victim, the attackers held a sharp knife to the throat of four-year-old Tiyasha Jannat, who was being held by Akter. The assailants demanded valuables, threatening to harm the child if their demands were not met. As Akter and her colleagues began shouting for help, the suspects forcibly snatched a gold necklace weighing approximately 16.5 grams from Akter’s neck before fleeing the scene on their motorcycle. The stolen jewelry is valued at an estimated 250,000 taka.
Shamima Akter has since filed a formal complaint with the Pirganj Police Station against the two unidentified suspects.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station, Nazmul Haque, confirmed that an investigation into the robbery is underway. He stated that the department is pursuing the suspects and intends to take swift legal action.
