Fishery manager thwarts robbery attempt in Jashore by tossing cash into pond

A fishery manager narrowly escaped a robbery attempt on Friday night in the Madhyakul area of Keshabpur, Jashore, after being confronted by six armed assailants.
Satyajit Debnath, the manager of Rana Fishery, was traveling by motorcycle toward the Keshabpur upazila town at approximately 10:00 p.m. while carrying 220,000 taka in cash from fish sales. Upon reaching the Madhyakul Gutletala area, his path was blocked by three motorcycles carrying six unidentified men. The suspects attempted to seize the bag containing the proceeds, but Debnath managed to throw it into a nearby fish enclosure to prevent the theft.
The assailants fled the scene after local residents responded to Debnath’s calls for help. As the villagers pursued the suspects, the group fired two blank shots into the air to create panic before escaping.
Debnath filed a formal complaint with the Keshabpur Police Station at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. Reksona Khatun, the officer-in-charge of Keshabpur Police Station, confirmed that a complaint had been received and that officers had inspected the crime scene. She stated that legal proceedings are currently underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Local witness Azizur Rahman, who was passing through the area at the time of the incident, corroborated the report, stating that he heard two gunshots and later learned that the assailants had fled after failing to rob the victim.
