Waterlogging suspends Chittagong University shuttle train services

Shuttle train services for the University of Chittagong have been suspended following the accumulation of floodwater on the railway tracks. Two morning trains departed from the Battali station in the city, but both were forced to halt at the Sholoshahar station.
The first shuttle, which departed at 7:15 a.m., became stranded shortly after arriving at Sholoshahar. Imanur Rahman, a third-year economics student onboard the train, reported that passengers were informed that rising water levels had rendered the tracks impassable. The service disruption forced students to abandon plans to reach campus for classes, leaving many stranded and facing significant transit delays.
Railway officials confirmed that a second train, which left Battali station at 7:40 a.m., also encountered the same obstruction at Sholoshahar. The first train had been scheduled to return from the university campus at 8:40 a.m. following its initial arrival.
Sholoshahar Station Master Md. Mainuddin stated that water has submerged the tracks in the section between Sholoshahar and Cantonment stations, making safe operation impossible. Railway authorities are currently working to clear the line and resume normal service.
In response to the disruption, university officials are attempting to coordinate alternative transport. Assistant Proctor Professor Md. Kamrul Hossain confirmed that the administration is working to arrange buses to retrieve the students stranded at the Sholoshahar station and transport them to the university campus.
