Awarapan 2 Shatters Box Office Records as Emraan Hashmi Hints at Third Installment

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi’s latest release, *Awarapan 2*, has made a significant impact at the box office, grossing 98.10 crore rupees in India within its first three days. The film, which capitalizes on nostalgia for the 2007 original, has accumulated a worldwide gross total of 110.10 crore rupees.

On its third day, Sunday, August 16, the film recorded approximately 26 crore rupees from 9,403 screenings in India, alongside an additional 4 crore rupees from international markets. While the figures reflect a slight dip compared to the surge seen on India’s Independence Day, the film remains a dominant force. During the holiday, *Awarapan 2* outperformed competing releases, earning 40.50 crore rupees compared to 26 crore for *Tamil Vishwanath and Sons*, 16.20 crore for *Batwara 1947*, and 12 crore for *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*.

The success of the sequel marks a career milestone for Hashmi, as it surpassed the total lifetime net collection of the original 2007 film—which earned 7.75 crore rupees—on its opening day alone. Furthermore, by Saturday, the film’s earnings had eclipsed the total box office returns of several of Hashmi’s previous hits, including *Haq*, *Raaz 2*, *Ek Thi Daayan*, and *Jannat*. Industry analysts suggest the film is currently on track to become the highest-grossing project of Hashmi’s career as a solo lead.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner, *Awarapan 2* also features actors Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. While the film has received mixed reviews from critics, it has garnered strong support from fans who have praised Hashmi’s performance and his reprisal of the character Shivam Pandit.

During a recent promotional screening in Mumbai, Hashmi hinted at the potential for a third installment in the franchise. Addressing the audience alongside Patani, the actor emphasized that the project was driven by fan demand. Responding to audience enthusiasm regarding the film’s success, Hashmi remarked that the story was far from over and expressed hope for the production of *Awarapan 3* in the near future.
