According to the injured survivor, Majedul Islam, the two men were abducted on Friday afternoon from near a fuel pump in the Jamalganj Charmatha area. He stated that they were held captive in a house before being transported by motorcycle to the Mohabbatpur Padmapukur area under the cover of darkness. Majedul alleged that a group of nine individuals from a neighboring locality subjected them to a brutal beating. He reported losing consciousness during the assault and only regained awareness at dawn after being roused by passersby, at which point he found Badsha dead beside him. Majedul noted that while he does not know the attackers by name, he would be able to identify them by sight.
