Pakistani Singer Mustafa Zahid Claims Salman Khan Visit to Lahore Would Require Public Holiday Due to Fan Frenzy

Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid has claimed that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan enjoys such immense popularity in Pakistan that a government-mandated public holiday would be required to manage the crowds if the actor were to visit Lahore.

Zahid, known for his work in several hit Bollywood films, made the remarks during a recent interview with interviewer Fariidun Shahriyar. Discussing the widespread appeal of Indian film stars across the border, Zahid emphasized that the public’s affection for Khan transcends the often-strained political relations between the two nations.

“I always joke that if Salman comes to Lahore, so many people will gather that the government will have to declare a public holiday,” Zahid said, highlighting the unique bond Pakistani fans share with the Indian actor.

The sentiment reflects a long-standing fascination with Bollywood stars in Pakistan. Zahid noted that Pakistani audiences maintain a deep appreciation for artists regardless of geopolitical climates. This trend is not unprecedented; in 2007, actor Emraan Hashmi received a massive, enthusiastic reception during his visit to the country for the promotional tours of his films “Jannat” and “Awarapan.”

Mustafa Zahid himself gained significant recognition in India for his musical contributions to Bollywood, particularly for his tracks “Tere Mera Rishta” and “To Phir Aao Mujhko Satao” featured in the 2007 film “Awarapan.” Despite his past success, Zahid is not involved in the upcoming sequel, “Awarapan 2,” a decision that prompted fans to reach out in large numbers to express their disappointment.

Beyond his association with the “Awarapan” franchise, Zahid has lent his voice to several high-profile Bollywood projects, including “Aashiqui 2,” “Ek Villain,” “Murder 2,” and “Ragini MMS 2.” He is currently focused on composing and performing for Pakistani cinema and various music video productions.
