Couple Found Dead on Railway Tracks in Gazipur Following Domestic Dispute

GAZIPUR, Bangladesh — The dismembered bodies of a husband and wife were recovered from the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway track near Izzatpur Railway Station in Sreepur, Gazipur, on Saturday evening.
Authorities identified the deceased as 35-year-old Al Amin and his 30-year-old wife, Rina Akter. Both were employees at Arbala Fashion, a garment factory located in the Barmi area. Rina was the daughter of Siddiqur Rahman from the Paitalbari area of Barmi.
Railway police from the Joydebpur station arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. following reports from local residents. According to Sub-Inspector Faruk Hossain, the remains were found scattered across approximately one kilometer of the railway line. The severity of the injuries initially made visual identification impossible, but officials were able to confirm Rina’s identity after discovering her garment factory identification card at the scene. Her brother, Md. Suman, and other relatives later arrived to formally identify both victims.
Suman stated that the couple had been married for four years. He noted that they had been experiencing marital discord, which led Rina to move back to her father’s residence. Suman alleged that Al Amin had been harassing Rina since her departure. On Saturday morning, Rina went to work, but her family later became concerned when she failed to answer calls, which were eventually disconnected before her phone was turned off.
The bodies were transported to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for post-mortem examinations. The remains were handed over to the grieving relatives on Sunday afternoon.
Police have stated that an unnatural death case will be filed in connection with the incident. Investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
