Death toll of Bangladeshi workers in Riyadh factory fire rises to 16

The death toll of Bangladeshi nationals killed in a sofa factory fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has risen to 16, according to the Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry confirmed the updated casualty figures through a statement on its official social media platform on Monday morning. The blaze broke out at the manufacturing facility on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities identified the deceased as Farid, Shuvo, Rubel Pramanik, Sumon, Kalimuddin, Mohan Pramanik, Sumon Pramanik, Minhaj, Hridoy, Shahin, Abdul Jalil, Mojidul, and Sagar, all hailing from Naogaon district. Additionally, two victims, Shamim and Sabbir, were identified as residents of Natore, while a 16th victim, Shyamal, was from Rajshahi.
In response to the tragedy, the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs issued statements expressing profound grief and sincere condolences. The officials extended their sympathies to the bereaved families and pledged support during this period of loss.
Following the incident, officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh were dispatched to the site. They are currently coordinating with Saudi authorities to facilitate the formal identification of the bodies and the necessary repatriation procedures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and providing continuous assistance as required.
