Tamil filmmaker Jason Sanjay eyes Hollywood collaboration between Thalapathy Vijay and Jason Statham

Jason Sanjay, the son of celebrated Tamil film star and politician Thalapathy Vijay, has unveiled an ambitious vision for his burgeoning career as a filmmaker, identifying Hollywood action icon Jason Statham as his dream collaborator for a potential international project alongside his father.
In an interview with Behindwoods TV, the aspiring director discussed his trajectory in the film industry, clarifying that his decision to focus on storytelling rather than acting was born from a long-term dedication to the craft. Having spent much of his childhood on movie sets, Jason Sanjay noted that the experience shaped his understanding of cinema, transforming what began as mere exposure into a genuine passion.
The path toward directing was not immediate, however. Jason Sanjay revealed that his early aspirations were directed toward becoming a pilot or a professional cricketer. It was not until his final years of secondary education that he began to gravitate toward the nuances of filmmaking. Upon entering college, he solidified his professional intent, eventually completing his formal education in film production in Canada to refine his skills.
While he is the scion of one of Tamil cinema’s most recognizable figures, Jason Sanjay emphasized that he never felt a personal inclination toward performing in front of the camera. Instead, he found his creative voice in the narrative process, preferring to construct stories rather than portray them.
The young director is currently preparing for his debut with the feature film “Sigma,” starring Sundeep Kishan. Although the project was initially slated for release on July 31, its debut has been postponed, marking a pivotal moment in the newcomer’s transition from a student of the craft to a working director in the industry.
