Retired army officer Masud Uddin remanded in July murder case

The court granted remand for four days to the former Member of Parliament of Feni-3 Constituency Lieutenant General (retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury in the case of killing a person named Delwar Hossain during the July uprising.

The investigating officer of the case, Deputy Inspector (SI) Kofil Uddin of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Intelligence Division (DB) applied for seven-day remand of Masud Uddin on Saturday.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate. Ismail’s court granted a four-day remand. The matter was confirmed by the state counsel Shamsuddoha Suman.

Earlier, the police remanded Masud Uddin Chowdhury for a total of 14 days in 3 phases in a case filed at Paltan police station in the capital under the Human Trafficking Act. Later, on April 7, the court granted a three-day remand after arresting Delwar in the murder case.

In the remand application, it is said that important information about the incident of the case has been obtained from the accused during the interrogation. The information provided by him is being verified and the investigation is on. In this situation, he needs to be remanded for seven days again to verify the information.

It is said in the complaint of the case that during the July Uprising, on July 19, 2024, the leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliates attacked the student crowd at Falpatti, Mirpur-10, Dhaka. Delwar Hossain (40) was shot. He later died on July 21 while undergoing treatment.

In this incident, a case was filed at Mirpur Model Police Station on July 6, 2025.
