Police recover three missing teenagers from Dhaka hideout

Police in Dhaka have successfully rescued three teenage girls who had been reported missing from the capital’s Pallabi area earlier this week. Authorities tracked the youths to a rented apartment in the Dhaka Udyan neighborhood of Mohammadpur late Thursday night, bringing an end to an exhaustive search operation.
The investigation began on Tuesday after the father of one of the girls filed a missing person report at the Pallabi Police Station, stating that his daughter had disappeared the previous afternoon alongside a friend and her own younger sister. Simultaneous reports were filed by the families of the other two girls at the Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, prompting a coordinated effort by law enforcement to locate the missing adolescents.

According to a press release from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), investigators utilized advanced tracking technology to trace the girls’ whereabouts. The operation culminated at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Friday, when officers raided the residence in Mohammadpur and safely recovered the teenagers.
Police officials revealed that the incident was pre-planned, stemming from family restrictions placed on one of the girls, an eleventh-grade student at an Agargaon college, regarding her social associations. Investigators allege that the student drugged her mother by mixing sedatives into a soft drink on Monday afternoon. Once the mother was unconscious, the teenager took cash, gold ornaments, and clothing before fleeing the home with her younger sister and their friend.

Following their rescue, all three teenagers were safely handed over to their respective families. Pallabi police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as they process the circumstances of the disappearance.
