According to family, local people and police sources, Ashiq had previous enmity with Yunus Ali’s son Sagar and Sohag from neighboring Parulia area. As a result of this, there was an argument and fight between them last Thursday. Both sides fixed the time and place of arbitration in front of Parulia Bhuiyan house on Friday afternoon for settlement. In the afternoon, people from both sides gathered there and waited for the arbitrators.

At that time 10 to 15 people including Sagar and Sohag attacked Ashiq with native weapons in a pre-planned manner. They hit Ashiq indiscriminately with knives. Ilyas and Ruhul Amin got stabbed while going to save him. Later, with the help of local people, the three injured were rescued and taken to the 100-bed Narsingdi District Hospital. The doctor on duty of the emergency department of that hospital advised to take the three people to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with first aid. After taking the three people there later in the night, Ashiq died while undergoing treatment early this morning.
