Kaviraj is not the person behind the ‘Raag Karla’ viral quote, but the content creator

Angry? Is that right or wrong?’—this is one of the most talked about and viral dialogues on social media in recent times.
Captions of Facebook posts, comment rooms, inbox chats—this dialogue is everywhere now. Some are using it for humor, some for sarcasm, and some for punching language.
Numerous memes and satirical content have been created on social media around the dialogue. A separate competition has started among the netizens with the ‘Raag Karla’ trend.
Searching for the source of this viral dialogue, a video was posted on May 12 from a personal Facebook profile named ‘Iman Alli’. The caption of the 3 minute 38 second video read, ‘Kabiraj saw the boy’s hand like a demon and told the future…’
In the video, a man with a bag slung over his shoulder is seen on the side of the road looking at the hands of a young man and calculating the future. While divulging the future, he would end each word in a very confident manner—’Raag karla?’ and from there the dialogue basically went viral.
The video has been viewed nearly 1.6 million times till the publication of this report on Tuesday afternoon. The video received over 470,000 reactions, nearly 26,000 comments and over 7,500 shares.
After seeing the video, many assumed it to be a real incident. A person named Sana Ullah Mahmud Qaiser commented, ‘They will meet everyone! They are really clever!’
Another person named Krishna Sarkar writes, ‘The common problem of human life. Kaviraj is memorizing the points well.’
Basically, the person’s way of speaking, eye gestures, dramatic poses and repetition of the dialogue ‘Raag Karla?’, in the video, become a source of humor for the audience. From there, the conversation quickly spread across Facebook.
But after it became viral, the question arose among many people – is the person seen in the video really a poet?
When contacted with the profile of ‘Iman Alli’ who posted the video, his assistant Hanif told Prothom Alo that Iman Ali is not a poet; He has been associated with acting for 14 years.
Hanif said, “Many now really consider Iman Ali as Kabiraj. But the video that went viral was a complete act. It is made for entertainment purposes only.’
A look at the video posting profile also shows that Iman Ali identifies himself as a ‘digital creator’ and regularly publishes performance-based content. More similar humorous videos are available on that profile.
The search also shows that content featuring Iman Ali is regularly shared on at least 13 Facebook pages and personal profiles.
When contacted on the number given on one of these ‘HM Comedy BD’ pages, a member of the acting team named Munni Akhter told Prothom Alo, “When we were not performing as well as we wanted during the shooting, we would jokingly say to each other – What are you angry about?” From there this dialogue became viral.
On the other hand, the coordinator of 13 pages, identified as Harun or Rashid, told Prothom Alo that they have multiple entertainment-based Facebook pages.
Haroon Or Rashid said, ‘We have opened various pages and profiles with team members. The performance-based content we create is posted there and monetized.”
Haroon or Rashid also said that they are regularly acting in social awareness and humorous videos in association with various theater groups and content creators.
On verification, the person in the viral dialogue ‘Raag Karla?’ is not Kaviraj. He is a content creator and the video in question was a performance-based content created for entertainment purposes.
After the viral video, an interview of Iman Ali from an ID named ‘Shamim Hossain’ was also circulated on Facebook. The caption read, ‘Kabiraj’s real story exposed – Exclusive interview with “Raag Karla” fame Iman Ali.’
In the interview, Iman Ali said that the viral video was shot at Chandra in Gazipur. When he saw the hands of a young man working in a tea shop during the shooting, he immediately started talking. Incidentally, some of his words coincided with the young man’s life. Then the young man was surprised and asked him, ‘How did you say these things? You are not a poet!
Iman Ali said, in reality, he is not a poet. But because such experience happened in his own life, he got the idea of the video from that experience.
Iman Ali said, once he used to drive a rickshaw in Gulistan. One day he met a man there, who was selling various plants and amulets. Out of curiosity, he stood next to the man and the man first asked him for 10 rupees. Later he took 50 taka step by step and finally 200 taka he had with him.
According to Iman Ali, he had a total of Rs 230 and lost the entire amount. Later he realizes that he has been cheated. Believing the words of that person did not do any good but harmed.
Iman Ali said, ‘That experience remains in my mind. Ever since then, I have been thinking that I will make an educational content about how these hypocrite poets deceive people.
Iman Ali claims that there are some fraudsters and hypocrites in the society, who influence common and simple people with various words and steal money. The viral video was originally created to portray the image of cheating through humor.
