An event ahead of ‘Mother’s Day’. In that event, the mothers told the stories of their life experiences and struggles. Some spoke of the lonely wait by leaving their children abroad, while others spoke of the pride of being financially independent and raising their children. Some have experienced the pain of losing a husband, while others have found new strength in the bond of mother and daughter. Along with this, the need for women to be self-reliant and the call to advance the next generation has come up. Mothers caught a different emotion in these stories of love, suffering, responsibility and dreams.

‘Mother’s Day’ is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May. On this occasion, the mothers narrated their life stories in a program titled ‘Love yourself and move forward now’ organized on Friday afternoon.

‘Man Janda’ organized this special celebration program at Biswa Sahitya Kendra in Banglamotor of the capital. It is a social platform working for women over forty. Universal Medical College and Hospital has cooperated in this arrangement.

Rehana Arjuman Hai, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Universal Medical College gave a guidance discussion for mothers in the event. He commented that the greatest strength and motivation of a person’s life is built around the mother and a mother is selflessly by the side of every child at every step of their life from growing up.

Rehana Arjuman said that many women do not get the opportunity to take care of themselves in the busyness of family, work and raising children. As a result, they have various physical and mental problems as they grow older. At this time, he emphasized on nutritious food, eating seasonal fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water and calcium-rich food to stay healthy.

This doctor also said that adequate sleep, regular walking, exercise and yoga should be done as part of health awareness. One should sleep seven to eight hours daily and walk in such a way that the body sweats. Apart from this, personal hobbies like listening to music, reading books or gardening are also beneficial for mental health, he said.

On Mother’s Day, a mother-Sayeda Bilkis emphasized on women’s self-reliance. He said that if a woman becomes financially independent, it is possible to solve “80 percent of the problems” in life. According to him, one who is skilled in cooking, sewing, poultry farming or any other work, should employ that to secure his income.

Sharing her experience at the event, another mother, Kamrunnahar Milli, said that her mother’s and grandmother’s dreams and inspiration were the biggest strength behind her reaching this position. Especially from Nani’s experience with doctors, the dream of becoming a doctor was born in her. Emphasizing the importance of women being self-reliant, he said, without education and economic independence, a woman cannot move forward with confidence.

Another person named Sumi Rahman said that because of her age, her mother did not want to come to Dhaka, but when she was upset, he brought her and kept her with him for a few days. The death of her husband comes as a big shock in her life. After the death of her husband she broke down and fell into deep depression. His mother gave him courage at this time. Now he is well with the support and love of his daughter.

Israt Jahan talks about the feeling of lonely life leaving the children abroad. He said that his daily time is spent waiting for his children’s calls or messages. Even a small message sent by his son after waking up made him emotional. He said that the memory of losing his mother in 2021 also moved him. His regret is that he never told his mother when he was alive, “Mom, I love you so much.”

Juliet Sarkar shares her story of raising, educating and financial struggles as a single mother. He urged women to be self-reliant as well as to move forward by loving themselves.

In the event, the managing director of ‘Mann Janda’ Moushumi Mou stressed the importance of women becoming self-reliant. He said, every woman should have such ability, so that she does not have to be dependent on others. If necessary, women can work both indoors and outdoors.

Highlighting her daily life experience, Moushumi Mou said that women’s life means managing many responsibilities at the same time. He advised mothers to believe in their own strength and capabilities.

Hasibul Karim, the chairman of ‘Man Janda’, was present as a special guest in the event moderated by Archi Rahman. More than half a hundred mothers participated in the event. Participating women underwent medical checkup.

It should be noted that ‘Mind Window’ mainly deals with mental health, physical awareness, self-improvement and financial self-reliance of women above 40 years of age. About 17 thousand women are connected to this platform.
