Man electrocuted during wedding celebration in Narail

A celebratory wedding gathering turned into a tragedy in the Mushuria village of Narail’s Kolora Union on Friday night, as a 52-year-old man died from electrocution while welcoming a groom. The victim, identified as Nakul Mallick, was attending his niece’s wedding ceremony when the fatal accident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m.
According to family members, the incident took place as guests from the nearby Dhopakhola area arrived at the wedding venue. Mallick was among the relatives participating in the traditional greeting ceremony, during which he was tasked with offering sweets to the groom. While moving toward the entrance, he inadvertently made contact with exposed electrical wiring integrated into the wedding gate’s lighting decorations.

The impact of the shock left Mallick critically injured. Although family members immediately rushed him to the Narail District Hospital, the emergency department physician on duty declared him dead upon arrival.
Local authorities confirmed the details of the incident, with Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ajay Kumar Kunda stating that an unnatural death case is being filed. The victim’s body currently remains at the hospital, pending the completion of legal formalities before it is released to his family for funeral rites.
