BNP supporters won all posts in Mymensingh Bar Association elections

In the Mymensingh District Lawyers Association election, pro-BNP lawyers have won all the positions including president, general secretary out of 15 posts. All of them are not participating in the election under the banner of the United Lawyers Union Council. President Md. Nurul Haque and Mamruzul Hasan won the post of general secretary.

On April 15, Abdul Bari, convener of the Association of Returning Officers responsible for the election, issued a notice canceling the candidature of 16 people from this election, calling them ‘fascist collaborators’.
Yesterday, Thursday, voting started from 10 am in the association’s building and continued till 5 pm. Out of 1,038 voters, 840 lawyers voted in the election.
After counting the votes overnight, the results announced this morning, the candidate for the president of the United Lawyers Union Parishad. Nurul Haque got 597 votes and was elected president. His nearest rival Jamaat-NCP alliance-backed United Lawyers Parishad candidate AKM Aman Ullah got 211 votes. Mamruzul Hasan of the Integrated Lawyer Oikya Parishad was elected as General Secretary by getting 732 votes. His closest rival ATM Mahbub-ul-Alam candidate of the United Bar Association got 60 votes.
Apart from this, the other candidates who won the pro-BNP lawyer panel are Mir Emran Ali and AKM Mainul Hossain as vice president, Sajeeb Sarkar, Mohammad Asaduzzaman Khan and Raisul Islam as co-editors, Mohammad Shariful Islam as auditor, Sabikunnahar as executive member, Riyad Md. Saeed, Rezaul Kibria, Md. Shaheen Alam, Zayed Bin Khalil, Muhammad Ali and Samir Al Rashid Revolution.
