Dhaka Metro Suspends Operations at Mirpur-10 and Farmgate Stations Over Security Alerts

Authorities have suspended operations at the Mirpur-10 and Farmgate metro rail stations in Dhaka following the discovery of suspicious bags at both locations on Saturday. The security alert, which began around midday, prompted an immediate response from law enforcement and specialized units tasked with neutralizing potential threats.
At the Mirpur-10 station, station personnel identified an unclaimed bag on the second floor and alerted police. According to Mirpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman, officers have cordoned off the area to secure the premises while awaiting a thorough assessment. A bomb disposal unit from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) was deployed to the scene to determine the nature of the contents and whether they pose a genuine explosive risk.
Simultaneously, a similar security protocols were initiated at the Farmgate station after a suspicious sack was discovered abandoned near a pillar on the ground floor. Deputy Commissioner of the Tejgaon Division, Ibne Mizan, confirmed that the bomb disposal unit has been dispatched to investigate the parcel.
Operations at both stations remain on hold as investigators conduct their inspections. Officials stated that further information regarding the safety of the stations and the resumption of rail services will be provided once the bomb disposal teams complete their examination of the suspicious items.
