In Kushtia’s Kumarkhali, there was an incident in which the elder brother was killed by the younger brother’s random stabbing due to a family dispute. The incident took place at Baniapara Garkadi area of ​​the upazila at around 12:30 pm on Monday.

The deceased Rashed Sheikh (30) is a resident of Baniapara Gharadi area of ​​Kaya Union. He was a peddler by profession. Since the incident, his younger brother Zahurul Islam (24) is absconding.

According to the police, relatives and local sources, Rashed used to sell mosquito nets in Barisal. He came home last night. He was sitting on the balcony of the house around 12:30 pm. At that time, younger brother Zahurul hit him with a sharp knife in different parts of his body including his neck, stomach. Then locked the house and quickly ran away. Neighbors and relatives rescued Rashed and took him to Kushtia General Hospital around 2 am where the doctor declared him dead.

On Tuesday afternoon at Rashed’s house, it was seen that mother Sabura Khatun was mourning the death of her son. Relatives surround him consoling him. At that time, crying, he said, “I have lost everything.” I have no one left. What am I staying with? I wasn’t home. I went to my elder daughter’s house. I heard at night that the eldest son is no more. I am coming after hearing. The little boy has been mentally ill for a long time. What do you want? Whose justice do you want?’

Rashed’s wife Lucky Khatun said, “He (husband) was sitting on the balcony watching a video on his mobile phone. And I was going to the washroom. Immediately after going to the washroom I heard a sound. And when I came out, I saw Zahrul scolding him (husband). As I approached, he (Zahrul) ran away. Then I took Sagal’s Dakedoo to the hospital and he died as a doctor.’ He further said, ‘There was no enmity with Zahurul. He (Zahurul) did not work, only used to drink. I was asking for 5000 rupees last Eid. But I didn’t give. I didn’t think I would hold that anger for so long. I want justice for the murder of my husband.

Zahurul’s wife Alo Khatun said, ‘My husband does not work. was addicted He repeatedly asked for money. I don’t know why he was killed. But the criminal, let him be tried.

Kushtia General Hospital Resident Health Officer (RMO) Hossain Imam said Rashed died before reaching the hospital. He has deep wounds in several places on his body. It is believed that he died of excessive bleeding.

Jamal Uddin, officer in charge of Kumarkhali police station, said, initially, it is believed that the incident happened due to a family dispute. If the accused person is caught, the real facts will be known. A murder case is under process at the police station in this incident.
