A moderate heatwave has been blowing over Rajshahi for two days. The temperature increased by one and a half degrees Celsius yesterday compared to Monday. The temperature was recorded at 39.5 degrees Celsius around 3 pm on Tuesday. This is the highest temperature of this season. Earlier on April 3 also the temperature rose up to 39.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature yesterday was 38 degrees Celsius.
According to the sources of Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory, the temperature has gradually started increasing in Rajshahi from the second week of March. Out of this two rounds of Kalbaisakhi rains brought down the temperature. But for a few days the temperature started rising. Among them, 34.5 degrees Celsius was recorded last Sunday, and yesterday the highest temperature was 38 degrees Celsius. Rajshahi had the highest temperature in the country yesterday.
According to the Meteorological Department’s definition, a mild heat wave is defined as a maximum temperature of 36-37.9 degrees Celsius, a moderate heat wave between 38 and 39.9 degrees Celsius, a severe heat wave between 40 and 41.9 degrees Celsius, and an extreme heat wave when it is 42 degrees Celsius or more. As such, moderate heat wave is going on in Rajshahi yesterday and today.
Rahidul Islam, in charge of Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory, said that the maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 39.5 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature of the season so far. However, earlier on April 3, the temperature was recorded at 39.5 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, as the temperature has been rising for several days, people of all classes are in trouble. The working people have to work in this hot sun. The income of rickshaw pullers has also decreased.
Two people were working to remove sand and stones from the road in Oktroi Mor area of the city in the afternoon. Towels are tied on their heads. Sometimes he opened the towel and wiped his forehead and face. Their home is in Kanhat of Tanor upazila of Rajshahi. One of them, Rubel Murmu, said, “It’s very hot.” Sweat is running down the body. A few rickshaw pullers were resting under the shade of a tree in that area of the city. One of them. Roni said, “It’s been sunny since morning. It’s hot at night too. Loadshedding occurred several times during the night. Now the head is spinning. There is no rent since morning.
