ICC will start the new T20 tournament

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a new women’s T20 tournament. A notification on Friday (April 17) informed that the first edition of the tournament named ‘Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy’ will be held from April 18 to May 2.

This event is being organized with the aim of promoting cricket development and familiarity of partner countries. Therefore, the top teams like Australia, India, England and South Africa will not participate in it.

A total of five teams will play in this upcoming tournament – Rwanda, Italy, Nepal, USA and Vanuatu. The matches will be played in a double round-robin format, with the top two teams competing in the finals.

According to the ICC, the tournament is organized around the top teams from five different regional qualifiers, who did not play in last year’s Emerging Nations Trophy. All matches will be played on two grounds at the Gahanga Cricket Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.
