Two motorcyclists killed in collision with fish-laden pickup van in Lohagara

Two young men were killed early Tuesday morning when a fish-laden pickup truck struck their motorcycle on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway in the Lohagara Upazila of Chattogram.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. in the Sayerpara area near Thakur Dighi in the Padua Union. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Firoz Ahmed, also known as Touhid, and 24-year-old Mahi Patwari. Both men were residents of the Kachua Upazila in Chandpur.
Firoz Ahmed died at the scene of the accident. Mahi Patwari was transported to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The death of Patwari was confirmed by Nurul Alam, the officer-in-charge of the police outpost at Chattogram Medical College, who noted that the body has been transferred to the morgue.
Salauddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of the Dohazari Highway Police Station, stated that a patrol team was in the vicinity when the collision occurred. Responding officers recovered Firoz’s body and arranged for the transport of the injured victim to the hospital.
Authorities have seized both vehicles involved in the collision. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene immediately following the crash. Police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway to address the incident.
