Prothom Alo Journalist Injured After Being Targeted by Muggards in Dhaka

Prothom Alo journalist Md. Noman Siddique was injured during a mugging incident in the capital’s Mouchak area late Saturday night. The attackers forcibly snatched his mobile phone, causing him to fall from a moving rickshaw.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. as Siddique was traveling by battery-operated rickshaw from Dhaka Medical College Hospital to his residence in Shantinagar. According to the journalist, three individuals on a motorcycle approached the rickshaw from behind in the Mouchak area and snatched the phone from his hand. The sudden physical assault caused him to tumble from the vehicle, resulting in significant injuries to his hands and legs.
Following the theft, the suspects reportedly fled toward Malibagh via the Mouchak intersection. Siddique alleged that he immediately reported the incident to police officers on night patrol duty at the Mouchak intersection, but he claimed the officers failed to take immediate action.
Siddique has since filed a general diary (GD) with the Ramna Police Station regarding the robbery.
Md. Yasin Mia, the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, confirmed that a formal complaint has been received. He stated that law enforcement authorities intend to review nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage to identify the suspects and initiate necessary legal proceedings.
