Police officer injured as ceiling plaster collapses at Dimla Police Station

A police officer was injured and official equipment was damaged late Friday night when a section of the ceiling plaster collapsed at the Dimla Police Station in Nilphamari.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. while Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Moslem Uddin was serving as the duty officer. According to Uddin, large pieces of plaster detached from the ceiling and struck his shoulder. A desktop computer used for official police documentation was also crushed and rendered inoperable during the collapse. Three civilians who were present in the office at the time escaped unhurt.
Following the incident, Uddin was transported to the Dimla Upazila Health Complex, where he received medical treatment for his injuries.
The collapse has highlighted the deteriorating condition of the Dimla Police Station, a two-story facility that currently houses 62 personnel. According to station staff, the building has been in a dilapidated state for an extended period, with chronic moisture issues and rainwater leaking through the ceiling. In several areas, the concrete has eroded to the point where structural reinforcement bars are exposed.
Officer-in-Charge Shawkat Ali Sarkar confirmed the incident and stated that the matter has been formally reported to the Superintendent of Police. Sarkar noted that previous administrations had already submitted requests for a new facility, expressing optimism that construction of a replacement building would commence in the near future.
