Newborn baby girl rescued from bushes in Feni transferred to hospital neonatal unit

A newborn baby girl was rescued from a roadside thicket in the Charipur area of Feni municipality on Saturday afternoon.
The rescue occurred after pedestrians walking along the road heard the sound of a crying infant coming from the bushes. Upon investigation, they discovered the newborn wrapped in a scarf. The passersby immediately contacted the national emergency service via the 999 hotline, leading local police to the scene.
Following the recovery, officers transported the infant to the Feni Railway Hospital for medical attention. Sub-Inspector Nayan Chandra Das, stationed at the Feni General Hospital police outpost, confirmed that the baby was subsequently transferred to the hospital’s pediatric ward.
Rokon Uddin Daula, the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Feni General Hospital, stated that the newborn is estimated to be one or two days old. Due to a deterioration in her condition on Saturday night, the infant was moved to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where she is currently receiving specialized treatment.
Inspector Sajid Kamal of the Feni Model Police Station confirmed the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the child was abandoned and stated that appropriate legal action will be taken in response to the case.
