Five Dead, Five Injured in Gujarat Bus-Truck Collision on Vadodara Highway
At least five bus passengers were killed and five others sustained critical injuries in a devastating road collision on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway in India's Gujarat state on Wednesday morning (Sept 30).
The tragedy unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday when a speeding luxury bus carrying approximately 30 to 40 passengers attempted to overtake a stationary or moving truck ahead of it along the busy highway in Anand district, according to local police and eyewitness accounts.
Anand District Superintendent of Police G G Jasani stated that law enforcement and rescue teams rushed to the site immediately after receiving distress calls to conduct urgent extraction and medical operations.
The five severely injured individuals were swiftly evacuated to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, local authorities in Gujarat have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact sequence of events, verify whether driver negligence played a role, and formally identify the deceased victims.
The Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway remains one of the most heavily trafficked transportation corridors in India's Gujarat state, accommodating a massive volume of commercial trucks, buses, and private vehicles on a daily basis.
