Four-year-old boy killed as dilapidated boundary wall collapses in Dhaka

A four-year-old boy was killed and two other children were injured after a dilapidated boundary wall collapsed in the Shahjadpur area of Bhatara, Dhaka, on Thursday afternoon.
The victim, Mahid Hossain, was playing with other children near his home when the structure gave way at approximately 4:00 p.m. Following the collapse, the injured children were rushed to a hospital, where attending physicians declared Mahid dead.
A neighbor reported that the accident occurred near a construction site where piling work for a new building was underway. The boundary wall, which had visible cracks, reportedly collapsed under uncertain conditions. The two other children sustained injuries and received medical treatment at a local facility.
Mahid’s mother, Mousumi Begum, said she was informed of the accident shortly after it occurred. The boy, the younger of two siblings, resided in Shahjadpur with his parents. His father, Habib, works as a private car driver, and the family hails from the Sadar Upazila of Bhola district.
Inspector Md. Faruk of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost confirmed that the body has been placed in the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities at the Bhatara Police Station have been notified of the incident and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the structural failure.
