Dhaka Metropolitan Police Arrest 512 Individuals in Citywide Anti-Drug Operation

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 512 individuals during a series of anti-crime operations conducted across the capital over the last 24 hours. Following the arrests, police filed 48 separate cases at various stations throughout the city.
The operations took place between midnight Wednesday and midnight Thursday, according to a press release issued by the DMP on Friday.
The breakdown of the arrests by division shows 116 people were taken into custody in Mirpur, 71 in Motijheel, 70 in Wari, 56 in Gulshan, 56 in Uttara, 47 in Tejgaon, 40 in Lalbagh, and 39 in the Ramna division. Additionally, 17 individuals were arrested by the Detective Branch.
During the raids, authorities seized 1.204 kilograms of cannabis, 4 grams of heroin, 16,333 yaba tablets, and 50 bottles of Phensedyl. Police also recovered five motorcycles and 15,400 taka in cash during the course of the operations.
