Rajasthan manager punished for using phone in dugout

Rajasthan Royals manager Romy Bhindar was threatened with a ban but in the end he escaped a major punishment. He was fined Rs 1 lakh and given a stern warning by the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) for using a mobile phone in the team’s dugout.

He received this punishment for violating the rules of the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) during the IPL match.

BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia told India Today that Bhinder was sought clarification from the board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) regarding the use of mobile phones in the dugout during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Guwahati.

Although the cause of Bhinda’s incident was revealed during the interrogation, it was not found satisfactory to the concerned authorities. As a result, disciplinary action was taken against him.

He was subsequently fined Rs 1 lakh and warned not to violate such rules in the future. The BCCI said that the rules of the PMOA will be strictly followed and strict action will be taken in case of any violation.
