Cricket Board Elections Set for June

Dhaka will host the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections in the first or second week of June, according to BCB interim committee president and former national captain Tamim Iqbal.

The National Sports Council (NSC) formed an 11-member interim committee on April 7, headed by Iqbal, after dissolving the previous BCB board led by Aminul Islam. At that time, the NSC stipulated that elections for the BCB’s governing body would be held within three months.

Speaking to reporters at the Bangladesh-New Zealand match, Iqbal confirmed the timeline for the upcoming elections. The interim committee’s three-month tenure is set to conclude on July 7, and Iqbal expressed a desire to hold the elections before then.

The previous BCB governing body elections took place in October last year. A faction led by Iqbal had initially submitted nominations for director positions but later withdrew from the electoral process. The elected board at that time comprised 25 directors under Aminul Islam’s leadership.
