West Bengal to Distribute Comic Books on Narendra Modi in Anganwadi Centers

The West Bengal state government plans to distribute a new comic book detailing the life and work of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approximately 6.9 million children across nearly 119,000 Anganwadi centers in the state.
According to a senior state government official, the publication is designed to raise awareness among young children about key milestones in Modi's career, spanning from his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat to his current role as Prime Minister. The book will highlight national economic progress under his leadership, placing special emphasis on India's journey toward becoming the world's third-largest economy.
The distribution initiative is scheduled as part of the "Seba Sankalp" promotional campaign, which runs from September 17 to October 10 to mark Modi's birthday. During this period, state government employees will also document how citizens have benefited from central government schemes launched during Modi's tenure.
An official from the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare stated that the comic books will be distributed to children on three specific days during the campaign window. The books are currently in print and will be delivered to government offices shortly, after which final distribution dates will be fixed. Anganwadi centers will receive detailed schedules in advance to ensure maximum student attendance.
This latest initiative follows the March 2014 release of "Bal Narendra: Childhood Stories of Narendra Modi," a 45-to-48-page comic book depicting 17 childhood episodes of the Prime Minister, including tales of him rescuing a drowning boy and capturing a baby crocodile. Produced by Ahmedabad-based Blue Snail Animation and published by Ranade Prakashan ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, that earlier publication had faced mixed reviews, with some literary critics describing it as tedious and failing to capture children's interest.
