Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman departs for Australia and US on official tour

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman is scheduled to attend high-level defense symposiums and military expositions in Australia and the United States aimed at strengthening bilateral defense ties

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman departed Dhaka on Saturday on a nine-day official tour to Australia and the United States aimed at strengthening bilateral military cooperation and defense engagement.

During the initial leg of his itinerary, the Bangladesh army chief will travel to Perth, Australia, to attend the prestigious Chief of Army Symposium and the Land Forces International Defence Exposition 2026. Following the symposium, General Waker-Uz-Zaman is scheduled to visit Deakin University located in Melbourne to explore potential avenues for academic and strategic collaboration.

In the subsequent phase of his overseas tour, the army chief will proceed to Washington, D.C., in the United States to participate in the Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting and Exposition.

Throughout the duration of the official visit, General Waker-Uz-Zaman will hold courtesy meetings and interactive discussions with key defense figures and high-ranking military officials from both nations, alongside touring vital military installations.
