Police arrested three individuals, including a woman, during a raid conducted in the Jalalabad area under Khulshi Police Station in Chattogram on Saturday night (October 12) for their alleged involvement with a local juvenile gang.
Law enforcement authorities identified the arrestees as Md Abdul Hannan, Md Monir Hossain alias Emon, and Sabiha Begum. Police confirmed that Hannan and Emon are repeat offenders, each facing five to six criminal cases in connection with various offenses.
According to investigators, the suspects operate as associates of Wakil Hossain Boga, a former joint convener of the city Swechchhasebak Dal who has since been expelled from the organization. Police stated that Wakil serves as the mastermind controlling multiple juvenile gangs in the area and currently faces at least 16 pending criminal cases.
The crackdown follows recent gang violence in the locality involving Wakil's faction, known as the Seven Star juvenile gang, and a rival faction named the Five Star Group. The clash resulted in the murder of a teenager named Mohammad Hridoy.
Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdur Rahim stated that the three associates of the gang leader were apprehended acting on a tip-off received from confidential sources. The official added that the arrestees would be produced before the court following standard legal procedures.
