Two commercial shops were burnt in Chittagong

A fire has occurred in a commercial building in Chittagong city. A fire broke out in Chittagong Shopping Complex around 9:30 am on Saturday. Later, five units of the fire service brought the fire under control in an hour’s effort. However, the fire could not be fully extinguished till 11:30 am, said the fire service.

The location of this shopping complex is in Sholshahar area of ​​the city. Going to the spot in the morning, it was seen that smoke was coming out from different parts of the building. Fire service personnel are spraying water to extinguish the fire. Shops are closed for half a day on Saturdays. Shops are scheduled to open from 2 p.m.

‘Review Kids’ is located on the ground floor of the shopping complex. The executive director of the company, Mohammad Naeem Uddin, told Prothom Alo, “I came running after hearing about the fire, God saved me.” I was saved from a major accident. Everything could have been burnt if the fire had spread.

At 11 o’clock, the Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense of Chittagong, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, told reporters at the scene that two clothes shops on the ground floor were burnt down in the fire. The fire has been brought under control. No casualty. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
