Two children died after falling into the water while playing at the pond

Two children drowned while playing at the pond in Doarabazar upazila of Sunamganj. The incident took place on Monday afternoon in Baithakhai village of Surma union of upazila.

The dead children are Ruma Akhtar (7) daughter of Ramzan Ali and Papia Akhtar (4) daughter of Ukil Ali of that village. They are cousins ​​of each other.

According to the sources of local residents, these children were in the courtyard of the house at noon. At one point, they went to the bank of a pond near the house and started playing. Not seeing them for a long time, the family started searching. Ruma and Papia were rescued unconscious after searching the pond without finding anywhere. Later, when they were taken to the Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared them dead.
