Three Rajshahi University Students Injured in Targeted Campus Assault

Three students at Rajshahi University were subjected to multiple rounds of violent assaults on Monday following a dispute involving a formal complaint of sexual harassment filed by a female peer. The escalation of violence, which drew swift condemnation from the university administration, began at the office of the campus proctor before intensifying into a targeted attack at the central library’s reading room.
The victims—identified as Anas, Hasib, and Mahmudul Hasan—were reportedly confronted by a group of individuals associated with the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RAKSU) and the Islami Chhatra Shibir. According to reports, RAKSU General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar led the assault, accusing the victims of maintaining affiliations with the Bangladesh Chhatra League. Witnesses described a brutal scene in which the attackers utilized iron rods, bamboo sticks, and belts to strike the students.

Following the incident, the injured students were transported to a medical facility to receive treatment for their injuries. University authorities have confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the violence. An official investigative committee is set to be formed to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure accountability for those involved in the physical confrontation.
